Vehicle Highlights
Astro and its GMC Safari twin are America's only truck-based minivans, with a basic design that dates from the late 1980s. Astro comes in a single body length with one side sliding door. It uses a 4.3-liter V6 and automatic transmission, and is available with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Seating for up to eight is available. Astro comes with full-height rear cargo doors or extra-cost "Dutch doors" with separate-opening upper glass. It is also available as a 2-seat Cargo Van. Antilock 4-wheel disc brakes are standard. Traction control and side airbags are unavailable.
