Powertrain Options and Availability
Initially, two powertrains were available in Touaregs: a 220-horsepower 3.2-liter V6 engine, or a 310-horsepower 4.2-liter V8. Both engines team with a six-speed automatic transmission. The V6 jumped to 240 horsepower for 2006. During 2004, Volkswagen launched a Touareg with a turbodiesel V10 engine. The V6 model gets 276 hp for '07, an increase of 36 hp.
