Vehicle Highlights
The oldest-design full-size van is essentially unchanged for 2002. Cargo and conversion models are badged Ram Vans. Passenger models are called Ram Wagons. Both offer regular, extended, and extra-long Maxi bodies. A 3.9-liter V6 is standard for 1500s. A 5.2 V8 is optional for 1500s, standard on 2500s and 3500s. Available for 1500 Cargo and 2500/3500s is a 5.9 V8. The V6 teams only with 3-speed automatic transmission, as does the 5.2 V8 in Wagons; others have a 4-speed unit. Rear-wheel ABS is standard, 4-wheel ABS optional.
COMPETITION
Though it's nearly a toss up among the Chevrolet Express, Ford Econoline, and GMC Savana, we have selected the Ford as our Best Buy. It offers just a bit more drivability and creature comforts.
