ACCELERATION

T, man. Class Average
9 7.7

A smooth rush with either powerteam, though the 6-speed 3.2 packs a bit bigger wallop. Automatic transmission can jolt in hard-throttle downshifts, and its manual mode isn't that sophisticated.

FUEL ECONOMY

T, man. Class Average
6 4.7

Excellent for a high-performance exotic car. We averaged 22 mpg with our most recent 6-speed test car. Premium gas mandatory.

RIDE QUALITY

T, man. Class Average
2 3.5

Firm chassis and low-profile tires, so choppy except on mirror-smooth roads. Not punishing like a Dodge Viper or some Chevrolet Corvettes, but less supple than most low-priced sports cars.

STEERING/HANDLING/BRAKING

T, man. Class Average
10 7.8

As racy as the looks suggest. Steering effort a bit high, but virtually flat cornering, fine grip and stability, plus powerful, drama-free braking.

QUIETNESS

T, man. Class Average
4 3.6

The engine's right behind you, so that's what you hear most, though it's not unduly wearing. Prominent tire noise on coarse pavement.

CONTROLS

T, man. Class Average
7 5.2

Logical and convenient, as are those of most Acuras.

ROOM/COMFORT/DRIVER SEATING (FRONT)

T, man. Class Average
5 5

Snug but not cramped, though head room limited for 6-footers. Racy-looking seats hug well in hard cornering, but need better thigh support. Visibility great despite low-slung seating, but entry/exit is the usual sports-car limbo dance.

ROOM/COMFORT (REAR)

T, man. Class Average
0 .7

(No rear seating.)

CARGO ROOM

T, man. Class Average
1 2.1

Never a strong point with mid-engine designs, but space here only passable even for a 2-seater. NSX-T's light roof panel is easily managed, stows conveniently on the engine cover.

VALUE WITHIN CLASS

T, man. Class Average
5 4

Hardly cheap, and some may pine for more raw power, but NSX remains among the most practical exotic cars and offers its own special thrills. Beware of crunches, though: Aluminum-intensive construction means even minor accident repairs will cost a bundle.
