Acura's entry-level models are derived from the previous Honda Civic design, but the all-new '01 Civic platform will support new 2002 Integras rebadged Acura RS. The vintage-1994 design puts in its final appearance with 2-dr hatchback coupes and 4-dr sedans (the '02s will be coupes only). All use 1.8-liter 4-cyl engines. LS and GS models have 140 hp, GS-Rs 170, the high-performance Type R coupe 195. Manual transmission is standard. Automatic is available on LS and GS.

COMPETITION

The current Honda Prelude has been around for a few years but it has plenty of power, excellent road manners, and gets reasonable fuel economy.
