Vehicle Highlights
Available middle-row bucket seats for the mainstream passenger model marks the primary EuroVan addition for 2000.
EuroVan comes as the mainstream GLS passenger model and recreation-oriented MV (MultiVan), plus a Camper model on an extended wheelbase. All have a single right-side sliding door, V6 engine, automatic transmission, and antilock 4-wheel disc brakes.
The GLS and MV seat seven, with the GLS using a middle-row bench or, for 2000, a pair of optional buckets. The MV's middle-row buckets face rearward. Both have a folding third-row bench; the MV's converts to a bed. Standard on the Camper and optional on MV is a "pop-top" roof incorporating a 2-person bed. The Camper adds refrigerator, sink, stove, and other gear. Other 2000 additions include rear-seat reading lights, tinted rear glass, and remote central locking.
COMPETITION
Chrysler started the minivan trend back in 1984, and they remain one of our Best Buys today. Though the competition has heated up, we still feel that the Dodge Caravan and Chrysler Voyager are two of the best you can buy. They offer all of the creature comforts in a pleasing package at a fair price. Our other Best Buy is the Honda Odyssey. It's a little bit smaller than the Chryslers, but more sporty to drive, and it has a super-convenient flip-and-fold-away rear seat.
Trailing at a close second are the Recommended Chevy Venture and Ford Windstar. Though these vans are comparably priced and offer loads of neat features, we feel they can't match the road manners of our Best Buys.
