Trouble Spots
Consumer Guide's® Auto Editors have scoured repair bulletins and questioned mechanics to search
for commonly occurring problems for a particular vehicle. In some cases we also give possible manufacturer-suggested
solutions. In many instances these trouble spots are Technical Service Bulletins posted by the manufacturer,
however, we have our own expert looking at additional vehicle problems.
Climate control:
The ventilation system may make fluttering noises when using the panel/defrost setting due to a problem with the linkage or whistle when the blower is running due to a gap on the resistor mounting. (2000)
Engine noise:
Engine vibration while idling in reverse may be due to stones lodging in the rear, engine roll restrictor. (2000-05)
Fuel pump:
The fuel hose between the filler neck and tank may flake and clog. In-tank fuel filter and hoses are being replaced under a recall. (2000)
Heater core:
Installing a restrictor in the heater inlet hose may repair heater cores leaks. (2000-2002)
Vehicle noise:
The right motor mount could break due to defective hardware resulting in noise, vibration, and possible driveshaft damage. Redesigned mounts were being installed under a recall. (2000)
Water leak:
Rough engine running in wet weather caused by water leaking onto wiring from gap near center joint in cowl grille. (2000-02)
