2000 Chrysler LHS and 300M: Overview

The LHS and 300M are, respectively, luxury and sports versions of Chrysler's Concorde. They get minor trim and options changes for 2000, including an available 4-disc in-dash CD changer and revised instrument lighting designed to improve readability. LHS and 300M use the same front-wheel-drive chassis as the Concorde and similar Dodge Intrepid, but have distinct styling and shorter bodies. LHS and 300M share a 253-horsepower V6 and automatic transmission; the 300M uses Chrysler's AutoStick automatic, which has a separate gate for manual shifting. Antilock 4-wheel disc brakes and traction control are standard. Side airbags are unavailable.
The 300M has sportier suspension and steering settings than the LHS, but the same tires and 17-inch wheels. The Performance Handling option gives the 300M more-aggressive tires on 16-inch wheels and is now available with chrome wheels.

COMPETITION

This hotly contested segment has a clear benchmark, it is the Acura TL (and its 2-door cousin Acura CL). The TL succeeds in blending comfort, style, luxury, and sport into an efficient package at an affordable price.
