Trouble Spots

Consumer Guide's® Auto Editors have scoured repair bulletins and questioned mechanics to search for commonly occurring problems for a particular vehicle. In some cases we also give possible manufacturer-suggested solutions. In many instances these trouble spots are Technical Service Bulletins posted by the manufacturer, however, we have our own expert looking at additional vehicle problems.

Automatic transmission: Hard shifting and gear clash can be eliminated by installing revised synchronizer components. (1991)

Automatic transmission: No second gear and/or a loud tapping noise when shifted into or out of any forward range. (1991-96)

Dashboard lights: The check engine light comes on, and will set a code for a bad camshaft sensor. The fix is to replace the engine control computer. (1996)
