What do you get when you cross a Wrangler with a Grand Cherokee? According to Jeep, the spawn of this pair looks something like the Trailhawk Concept. Unveiled at the 2007 Detroit Auto Show, Jeep refers to its latest concept as a refined highway cruiser that doesn't sacrifice any of Jeep's off-road capabilities. Trailhawk is a 4-door SUV that shares the new stretched Wrangler platform. Four removable glass panels transform Trailhawk into an open-air Jeep not unlike Wrangler.
The concept's name comes from its ominous, diagonal cut headlamps evocative of its bird-of-prey namesake, the hawk. Trailhawk's overall menacing look is evoked by its low, wide stance and angular, slanted shape. It rides on a 116-inch wheelbase, with its 22-inch wheels pushed out to the corners and accented by nearly trapezoidal, angular-shaped wheel flares. Under the hood is a 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine.
Inside, creature comforts reign. Throughout the cabin are targa-like removable glass roof panels for open-air riding. Each passenger gets an individual leather seat in Bark Black and Firewood Orange. All four occupants also get separate audio pod sound systems; an individual dock for an MP3 player is located in the cargo area. Also in the rear cargo area is a dropdown tailgate featuring more storage, cup holders, and a Load 'n Go cargo tray compartment for organized, easily accessible storage.
