Since their introduction in 1989, Subaru has sold 1.4 million combined units of Outback and Legacy. For 2008, each gets a freshened exterior, powertrain options, and new interior features.
The 2008 Subaru Outback and Legacy have a new face. The revised grille features a solitary chrome bar bisecting Subaru's oval-shaped star logo. Also new is the Legacy 3.0 R Limited model's a 245-hp 3.0-liter 6-cylinder Boxer engine, a Subaru Legacy first. It shares this engine with the Outback 3.0 R L.L. Bean Edition and the B9 Tribeca.
For 2008, this model's 5-speed automatic transmission also gets steering wheel paddle shifters, for manual gear shifting. Both also feature new front and rear fascias, redesigned hoods and headlamps, available 18-inch wheels, and freshened interiors. Outback and Legacy will go on sale in early summer.
